Where it works

Boston Dynamics laboratories and demonstration work. No customer sites.

Almost every viral humanoid video of the last decade is Atlas, which has quietly distorted how the public estimates the state of the field. What Atlas demonstrates is what a research team can achieve with an unlimited engineering budget and no requirement to survive a customer site, a maintenance schedule or a return on capital.

Atlas has never been offered for sale at any price. It is a research programme, not a product line.

What it means to own one

There is nothing to own. Atlas is the clearest illustration in this catalogue of the gap between capability and commerce: the most advanced machine here is the one with no price, no customers and no hours billed.

Useful as a reference point rather than an investment case. When judging any humanoid claim, the question worth asking is whether the machine is closer to Atlas, which proves what is possible, or to Stretch, which proves somebody signed a purchase order.
