Where it works

Demonstrations, short commercial engagements and pilot projects. AgiBot raised at a reported 2.8 billion dollar valuation with 735 million in funding.

Day rates exist where demand is short, uncertain or promotional, which is a different market from the monthly contracts that cleaning and service robots run on. A machine hired for an event or a trial is being paid for attention and capability demonstration as much as for output.

Quoted around 899 euros per day, or upwards of 20,000 dollars a month at continuous hire. Day rates rather than monthly rates are unusual and signal short project work.

What it means to own one

Deliberately no calculator on this page. Converting a day rate into an annual figure would require assuming how many days a year the machine is hired, and for project work that assumption carries more weight than the rate itself.

High day rates look attractive next to monthly contracts until utilisation is included. Twenty hired days a year at 899 euros earns less than a serving robot placed continuously at 400 dollars a month, which is the arithmetic that makes dull machines interesting.
